A man is stranded on a tropical island after a shipwreck, with nothing but coconuts and playful animals to keep him company. He’s not prepared for this new existence and slowly begins to suffer from hunger! The question becomes, what can he do? He tries constructing a raft, but each attempt results in it being destroyed shortly thereafter. Following one of these failures, he believes that a beautiful sea turtle he's noticed is the cause of his problems. One day when the turtle comes ashore, he turns it on its back and leaves it exposed to the heat. At this point, something supernatural occurs, as the animals transform into a young woman with whom he begins to form a connection... The animation and musical score for this film, which has no spoken dialogue, are visually striking. The narrative is short and possesses an appealingly whimsical quality. It prompts consideration of what defines paradise and what preserves it. While I thought ninety minutes felt slightly extended, the time passed quickly, and I appreciated its straightforwardness.
