Within Jakarta, a group of criminals effectively controls a neighborhood where they operate without restraint. “Tama” (Ray Sahetapy) leads them, acting as he wishes with a sizable force ready to defend him when the police attempt to shut down his operation. Despite being a heavily armed SWAT team, it quickly becomes clear that they are at a disadvantage in numbers and weaponry, and their superior hadn't informed them of this dangerous mission—meaning there won’t be any backup or aerial support. The building is full of security cameras, allowing for easy tracking of the police movements, and soon “Lt. Wahyu” (Pierre Gruno) finds himself with only a few officers left as they try to reach the seventh floor. Luckily, one of them is “Rama” (Iko Uwais), who’s exceptionally skilled in martial arts, and with some unexpected help, sides are chosen. The dark, cramped building makes for an appropriate setting for their intensely violent actions, although it does become somewhat monotonous, particularly later when it feels like the fighting will never conclude; however, the incredible physical abilities on display are remarkable. It’s a platform for Uwais to demonstrate his agility while facing off against guns, knives, and even refrigerators, and there's a lot packed in. The plot unfolds in an expected manner and occasionally suffers from characters seemingly defying death, surviving unbelievable injuries only to continue fighting—but this isn't intended as realism; it’s a display of athleticism with a video game feel that rarely pauses.
