Donald Sutherland has appeared in forgettable projects before, but typically in smaller roles. In this one, he’s fully invested, and I can't help but think he might be questioning that decision now. The plot is incredibly silly; it centers on alien beings that look like flounders with a proboscis, hitching rides on people while manipulating their thoughts. "Nivens" (DS) is set on capturing one of these creatures to take it back for study. It looks and feels like a standard television movie, and there’s absolutely nothing fresh or inventive about it. The film attempts to combine elements of "Alien" and "Doctor Who," but the plot itself is weak and repetitive, lacking any real sense of danger. The solution to stopping the alien invasion is painfully obvious – simply avoid wearing clothing with a solid back! It concludes in a predictable fashion, featuring an average cast and unremarkable lines of dialogue that accompany the special effects involving floating jelly-like creatures. There's nothing particularly memorable about this film.
