This movie, ‘The Public,’ seems like the sort of commentary on current events and society that’s really necessary, and it's clear Estevez put a lot of feeling into making it with sincere goals in mind. Unfortunately, the writing is quite basic, which prevents it from truly pushing viewers, even though it aims to be widely liked and easy to understand. It’s still okay to watch, mainly because of how good the actors are and as a way to spark conversations about the subjects the film brings up—which seem more complex than what's actually shown on screen.
