Sometimes my mom would become completely absorbed by a film, pick out a line as her favorite, and then repeat it constantly, mimicking the character’s delivery in an exaggerated fashion. *The Persidio* is one of those movies she really took to heart, and for years afterward we had to endure her Sean Connery impression while she pretended to threaten us with just her thumb. So now whenever I watch it, or even when I'm visiting San Francisco, that line pops into my head and lingers for days. But I will say, it was a really good scene and honestly deserves to be remembered and quoted more often. It’s the impression I fall back on, unless I’m doing Johnny Lee Miller impersonating Sean Connery, or *The Untouchables*, but that one feels pretty played out. Everyone goes there when they do Connery. Or, you know, I could just move to Chicago. Maybe everyone else around the world and country is just thinking about James Bond. The thing is, it has a memorable Sean Connery line. And that’s reason enough to check it out. And then there's the San Francisco car chase, and I really dislike Frisco, but I do enjoy movies set there, and any chase sequence through those city streets is entertaining because it immediately reminds me of *Bullet*. The multi-jurisdictional conflict trope shows up too, and it’s surprisingly rare in a lot of films. However, you get a good interaction between military personnel and civilian police officers clashing with each other. That situation gets worse due to past grievances and some history, then even more complicated by the development of a romantic connection. And since it's the 80s, you just know that the romantic interest will be Meg Ryan; no surprise there. All of this is combined with an actual interesting case for the two cops to figure out. It feels scattered, but in the best possible way—a classic 80s movie cliché.
