Mark Harmon portrays "Jay," a police officer and ex-military policeman who gets drawn into a murder investigation that forces him to reconnect with his old superior, "Col. Caldwell" – played by Sean Connery – someone he doesn’t have a particularly good relationship with. Things become more complicated when Jay begins seeing the colonel's daughter, "Donna" (Meg Ryan), but will they be able to resolve their issues and solve the case? The answer is yes, because there’s absolutely no real suspense in this movie. While the reason behind the killings isn't immediately clear, the rest of the plot feels familiar and disappointingly easy to guess. Harmon doesn't deliver a particularly memorable or believable performance, Connery seems content with just collecting his paycheck and displaying that signature smile, and Meg Ryan’s presence is largely forgettable as the film progresses at a slow pace. It’s acceptable background noise for an evening in front of the TV, but ultimately it’s pretty ordinary.
