It’s unusual to have a film come out without any advance buzz on the big review sites. I must admit, *The Present* really took me by surprise! The fact that I knew so little about it before seeing it—which is understandable given the unremarkable promotional materials and a fairly uninspired plot description—led me to anticipate very little from this 2024 film. But I ended up having a genuinely enjoyable experience watching it. I think it's a well-made movie, and unexpectedly funny as well as deeply heartwarming. Isla Fisher and Greg Kinnear have good chemistry together, and the three young actors—Shay Rudolph, Easton Rocket Sweda, and Mason Shea Joyce—all deliver strong performances, even if Mason’s role is less substantial. The downside to being the first reviewer is worrying that others won't like it as much, so I'm hoping for mostly positive reactions!😆 All in all, I enjoyed myself, and that’s really what matters!
