The mouse known as “Mickey” has grown tired of beans and embarks on a quail hunt with “Pluto.” It’s fortunate for the quails that neither Mickey, wielding a shotgun, nor his clumsy dog could manage to capture one, even if they were weighed down. However, as they venture further into the forest, a more dangerous presence starts to pursue the mouse and his pet. While cautiously moving forward, I found myself anticipating some music from Prokofiev to heighten the playful sense of danger in this story; though I’ve never understood the appeal of Mickey or Pluto, this remains an agreeable ten-minute short with pleasant depictions of nature and playful antics.
