There’s an apparent desire to critique capitalism, but the execution is clumsy, as if cinema itself were being disrespected by this attempt. A film needs to establish itself as a work of art before conveying a message; it's about building the house first and then adding doors, not forcing an ideology onto the screen. Calling this a film feels generous! The use of symbolism falls flat because every line of dialogue and scene hammers home its symbolic nature—symbols shouldn’t be so blatant. If aiming for symbolism, one must understand how to do it properly, embedding signs within symbols instead of turning the entire movie into an absurd collection of them. At times, the director seems unsure of their own purpose, abruptly shifting into what they perceive as a revolutionary phase. Not only is this revolution poorly understood and depicted, but the two central figures—who aren't really characters—resort to violence against everyone just to secure food for the film’s conclusion! Seriously? How do these actions represent revolution, leftism, or aiding others? They descend, beat people up, then feed their ridiculous symbol (a dessert) to a child and send them down, only for the tyrants to be surprised when she returns upstairs. So what? What's the significance? Does this make it a leftist film? Does it champion revolution and resistance? Did it help anyone or offer salvation? Absolutely not. Overall, "Platform" is an offensive, nonsensical, and brazen movie that insults both cinema and its viewers, lacking any genuine artistic or ideological merit—it doesn’t even manage to deliver a worthwhile message.
