I have to acknowledge Nicholas Lea’s performance; he's a capable actor who committed fully to his part, even though the film itself is quite bad. I want to recognize him for putting in maximum effort. His work made it possible for me to get through the movie. The visual effects were distracting—if they had been obscured more by shadows, the production could have saved money and improved the overall look, preventing it from feeling like a cheaply-made television film from the early 1990s. It seemed that portions of the screenplay were constructed around the special effects, which didn't improve things at all. Ultimately, this is a poor reimagining of an earlier movie—a film that, despite its limited resources, succeeded by avoiding excessive visual effects and having a better script. The writing was terrible, though it did include a welcome appearance by Michael Pare, which I appreciated. Even with some truly ridiculous and awkwardly-placed dialogue, Nicholas Lea still managed to deliver a convincing performance.
