Dean on The Perfect Neighbor

1/10 · Nov 25, 2025

It began promisingly, and it’s strange how much the initial part mirrored something that actually occurred in my own life. I have a difficult neighbor who once verbally abused my mother when she was outside; afterward, he pounded on our door. That's when I decided I'd had enough. I became incredibly angry, went out to his place and began banging on his door, urging him to come out and confront me directly. He didn’t respond. The documentary recounts a similar situation where the neighbor who was banging on doors ended up being shot. Returning to the film itself, it seemed well-made at first and I intended to rate it highly, but as is typical, they steered the narrative toward racial issues, particularly in the conclusion when they highlighted statistics about "whites killing blacks," and then a politician—Sharpton—added his commentary. It's astonishing how frequently they twist events into racial conflicts and consistently portray people of my background negatively. The incident had nothing to do with race. As a consequence, I’m assigning this show a rating of 1/10. Next time, please strive for impartiality and concentrate on the story itself rather than injecting prejudiced racial messaging!
