I have to admit, I’m surprised by how decent this film turned out to be! There were times while watching 'The Perfect Man' when I wasn't sure if I was finding it enjoyable, but looking back, I believe I did manage to appreciate it. The performances weren't particularly strong, yet the humor and, especially, the genuinely warm storylines really resonated with me – something I hadn’t anticipated. A significant concern I had throughout concerned how the various plot threads would come together; I appreciated the way they were gradually revealed, but I doubted whether the ending would be satisfying. Sadly, my fears were likely justified because the resolution isn't particularly impressive. Despite this, there’s still a pleasant story nestled within all the mediocrity. As noted earlier, the acting isn't remarkable. Hilary Duff (as Holly) and Heather Locklear (as Jean) stand out as the most memorable performers, heading up an adequate supporting ensemble. Typically, these kinds of movies prioritize casting over plot, but this one seems to have flipped that around. It barely reaches the score I’m assigning it, but I can't overlook the fact that I felt a connection with the relationship between Holly and Jean, which ultimately lifts the film above its shortcomings.
