This is a remarkably well-crafted and deliberately paced exploration of troubled individuals and their connections to one another, leaving no participant untouched. While there were a couple of small imperfections, the writing, direction, and performances are all superb. I suspect that people older than 40 will likely recognize aspects of these relationships from their own experiences. What I appreciated most was Farhadi’s decision not to offer any neat endings; such things rarely happen in reality. I felt completely drained once the two hours and ten minutes concluded.
