I’d heard about this movie and its subsequent adaptation for years, but hadn't seen it until recently. I really enjoyed watching it. Hayley Mills, similar to her role in *‘Pollyanna’*, is captivating; you naturally find yourself drawn to her character(s). She handles playing dual roles well, and the cinematography and editing are remarkably effective—I didn’t notice any significant problems with the special effects or stunt doubles used. Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara play the parents of Mills' Sharon/Susan, both bringing something positive to their performances. I appreciated the relationship between their characters, even though they aren’t flawless; particularly given Maggie’s occasional displays of domestic violence. The storyline, which I was familiar with beforehand, is definitely intriguing. The filmmakers did a good job weaving it together and making it seem more believable than it might be. That said, I think the film could have benefited from a shorter length because the final section felt somewhat unbalanced to me. It’s an entertaining movie, largely due to Hayley Mills' charm.
