Having watched this again not long ago alongside its remake, it's hard to even make an apples-to-apples comparison. Gregory Peck simply outshines Liev Schreiber, though that’s likely because Peck is the stronger performer overall. Lee Remick feels much more authentic than Julia Stiles, who doesn’t seem to manage to communicate the same level of genuine fear and distrust. David Thewlis is a capable actor, but when he has smaller roles, his work often seems lackluster, whereas David Warner was simply more convincing as the photographer. The 1976 version of *The Omen* certainly shows its age, but that’s not inherently negative; it creates an impression that they were attempting something original and genuinely trying to scare viewers...and they succeeded. In contrast, the remake feels formulaic and doesn't bring anything new to the table. Without question, the 1976 film is more unsettling, more intense, and builds greater suspense than the 2006 version. The earlier movie also holds up better in terms of believability.
