The Old Guard 2 presents a complicated picture – it’s a follow-up that manages to be better in certain respects while also falling short in others. The fight sequences are still enjoyable, thanks to the actors' dedication and well-crafted movement. It attempts to explore significant ideas related to fate, influence, and ethics, though it doesn’t quite manage to provide complete resolutions. However, a slow tempo, shifts in tone, and too much focus on preparing for what comes next lessen the potential of a more focused and resonant narrative. Those who liked the initial film may still get some enjoyment out of this one, but there's a sense that the series is drifting away from the qualities that distinguished it originally. I’m simply wishing that any future movie in the series will finally find the appropriate equilibrium between character development, action, and expanding the universe. Rating: C
