This second installment manages to be a slight improvement over its predecessor, though that isn't saying much since I wasn’t particularly fond of the initial film; it felt like an unpleasant slog to get through, particularly the ending. This time around, I struggled to grasp what was happening, but some aspects of the filmmaking were engaging and it didn’t feel overly long. Still, there’s a complete lack of emotional depth. The appeal of "The Conjuring Universe" for me rests solely on the performances of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga; even “The Devil Made Me Do It,” which wasn't great, was bearable because of them, as most of the other films have been disappointing. **2.5/5**
