Considering the negative buzz surrounding this film, my expectations were low. As someone who enjoys science fiction, fantasy, and horror, I felt compelled to watch it despite the criticism. I honestly can’t grasp why so many people dismiss it as being completely awful. It's true that it isn’t a fantastic movie, but it certainly isn’t terrible either. It avoids simply copying the original *Mummy* films, which I consider to be quite good; that particular idea is starting to feel repetitive. The biggest disappointment for me was Tom Cruise. He seemed to lack any real charm and didn't really connect with his character. It felt like he was just going through the motions, mostly reacting to what happened around him. Russell Crowe fared much better as Doctor Jekyll; I actually liked having that character included in the story. His role seemed well-integrated and nicely acted. As you’d expect from a mummy movie, there's plenty of supernatural elements, curses, monsters, and action sequences. Generally speaking, these were handled adequately. The special effects were fun to watch, and the mummy herself, Sofia Boutella, was perfectly acceptable. Ultimately, the film and its storyline had significant potential, but the final result didn’t quite live up to it. There were moments of genuine quality, but they weren't utilized effectively. I believe a more engaging lead actor and perhaps a stronger script for him could have significantly improved the movie. Overall, I did find enjoyment in watching it. It isn’t truly bad, but it had the potential to be much better. The positive aspects were occasionally quite good, though at other times it felt like everyone took a break and left the janitors to handle the filmmaking.
