The movie really missed the mark, failing to live up to the standard set by the 1999 version, and I can see why audiences will draw comparisons between the two. Tom Cruise’s performance felt almost comical, and what was surprising was witnessing people in the theater laughing during an action sequence that now seems noticeably flawed. It's a mixed experience overall, a disappointing beginning for what’s intended to be a new shared movie world centered on the Dark Universe.
