CinemaSerf on The Mummy's Hand

The story continues with three further installments, focusing on "Kharis" (played here by Tom Tyler) as he’s brought back from his unending state of near-death to reunite with his "Princess Ananka." Among these later films, this one stands out as the strongest, beginning with Dick Foran ("Steve Banning") and Wallace Ford ("Babe Johnson"), who portray two not particularly skilled archaeologists. They inadvertently stumble upon and disturb the tomb of "Kharis," along with his intimidating, power-hungry High Priest "Andoheb" (George Zucco), which understandably upsets them both. Brought back to life by a powerful potion made from Tan leaves, the mummy begins seeking revenge on those who disturbed him—and naturally, he’s also trying to find his lost love, hoping she'll accept his altered appearance, claiming he suffered a fire and hospitalization. The film’s production values are somewhat simple; certain shots are repeated frequently. However, the acting and writing are quite good, with Cecil Kellaway and Eduardo Cianelli doing well to advance the plot between moments of strangulation, and it has a satisfying ending. It's not connected to Karloff's 1932 film, but I found this continuation of the story to be pretty entertaining.
