It turned out to be the last chapter following "Kharis" (Lon Chaney Jr.) as he persistently attempts to find his "Princess Ananka" (played this time by Virginia Christine), and it’s surprisingly one of the stronger entries in the set. When laborers are draining a swamp, they discover one of their own has been strangled, sparking stories about mummies hidden beneath the surface. The foreman, "Pat Walsh" (Addison Richards), is annoyed because he simply wants to finish his work. His annoyance grows with the appearance of two researchers who claim to be collecting mummified remains for a museum but clearly have some other, sinister plan that leads them to an ancient monastery (located in Louisiana, no less!). There, the High Priest (Peter Coe) prepares the potion from tan leaves that gives our preserved protector the ability to search again, and chaos ensues. The plot is a familiar rehash of what came before, but it’s still enjoyable to watch, and the lighting creates just enough atmosphere to suggest some danger.
