Although it doesn’t quite reach the heights of Hammer’s earlier revivals like *Frankenstein* and *Dracula*, this film remains enjoyable, largely thanks to the performances of Fisher, Cushing, and Lee. The narrative, drawing inspiration from the Universal sequels of the nineteen forties, is well-constructed, and it may very well be the strongest portrayal of the Kharis character committed to film. Christopher Lee’s performance delivers a mummy who is fierce, monstrous, and expressive, a departure from the sluggish depiction seen in the 1940s films (and with respect to Lon Chaney). It's an excellent production from Hammer.
