The film’s central focus on a mother and daughter ultimately falls short due to the shallowness of its male characters. While the antagonist is presented as wicked, they also come across as remarkably unintelligent, managing an escape from their initial attempt at elimination in a way that feels both improbable and without any clear explanation. The romantic connection between Cruise and the mother doesn't resonate either, nor does the established friendship with Jons, which lacks any introductory context. I suspect casting choices played a significant role here. The narrative itself felt deficient and strangely paced, possibly because there wasn’t sufficient material to begin with. Regardless, it’s apparent that the intention was to blend a mother/daughter dynamic with action elements, but the creative team couldn't successfully achieve this combination. It earns a 3/10; those two points are awarded simply because I’ve encountered films of lesser quality, and not due to any discernible merits.
