Leslie Banks portrays a truly eccentric hunter who orchestrates shipwrecks near his island, then presents himself as a rescuer before employing the survivors in his unusual hunts—sometimes with arrows, other times with a rifle—supported by some taciturn assistants called "Ivan" and "Mongol," along with a pack of hungry dogs. Joel McCrea and Fay Wray find themselves among those caught up in this scheme, but they resist becoming prey and their attempts to escape lead to several silly pursuits. McCrae never seemed entirely convincing as a leading man, and that feeling persists here. However, Wray shines as the spirited woman needing rescue. While not particularly frightening, there are numerous jungle chases and secret passages that should entertain viewers for about an hour.
