It's hard to believe Pierce Brosnan hasn’t spent all of the earnings from "Mamma Mia," because that’s essentially what this film feels like – a blatant imitation of countless heist movies. The plot centers around a substantial amount of gold held within a highly protected prison in Abu Dhabi. Brosnan, playing “Richard,” is brought on board by a team of criminals and his own daughter, “Hope” (Hermione Corfield), to devise a plan for stealing the bullion from an unethical crime boss. They approach their scheme with enthusiasm, but there's very little real danger involved. As he himself admits at one point, "I think I need my head examined." There’s nothing fresh or inventive about it; it seems assembled from a collection of international actors to broaden its appeal overseas, and even includes Mike Angelo, a good-looking Thai performer who gained recognition as part of the musical act “Golf & Mike.” The acting and dialogue are unremarkable, and while the conclusion has a slightly unusual quality, and Tim Roth does his best attempting to stop their scheme; ultimately, it's disappointing throughout – though it’s padded out with luxurious settings, private aircraft, and lots of flashy jewelry.
