The setup for The Mill is intriguing, yet the film doesn't quite live up to what it could have been. Keeping the story within a single setting presented an opportunity for inventive camerawork, but that possibility wasn’t fully realized; the visuals were unremarkable and contributed to a sense of dullness. Lil Rel Howery’s acting occasionally felt unnatural, like he was trying to copy other performers, which made it difficult to become invested in his character. The storyline is disappointingly foreseeable, even regarding the intended surprise.
