It wasn't enjoyable, I doubt I’ll revisit it, and I can’t suggest it to anyone. I do like Kristen Stewart, and I believe she acted well, but she really had to work hard to keep the film afloat. John Corbett was the only other person who seemed to be contributing meaningfully. The plot itself wasn't terrible, though it has several issues. My biggest problem with it was how unrealistic everything felt. A glaring example is that the farm is supposedly overrun with "crows," which are obviously ravens. This detail exists because ravens are easier to train, but they’re unusually large birds compared to what most people are used to seeing. And then there are illogical moments like leaving feed out too far from where it would be collected—those aren't lightweight bags—and when the birds approach, he just shoos them further into a car with only the trunk open. They plant sunflower seeds, which inevitably attracts pests, but the timeline is completely jumbled. They begin planting seeds, and tiny plants are already visible in the background. There’s an event early on, then what seems like a week passes, and suddenly it's nearing harvest time. And there’s still a large bag of seeds left to plant, which isn't part of the harvest because it's separate and I don't think they begin harvesting during the film. There’s also the mold problem, and she doesn't seem to understand how to deal with it or why it keeps reappearing—it’s just ridiculous. These kinds of details highlight how poorly written the script is, particularly the dialogue. The visual effects are actually quite interesting; they did a good job with the birds, the wall, and the "flowing ground" was really striking. However, a few cool effects aren't enough to save it. You might as well just throw in random explosions instead. Ultimately, it’s not worth watching unless you want to see Kristen Stewart being the strongest performer onscreen.
