The film *The Meg* nearly manages to be an enjoyable action movie, but in my view, it doesn’t quite reach that mark. To be straightforward, I found myself losing interest while watching. While I appreciate the actors involved, that’s really about all the good things I can say. The special effects and plot just didn't work for me. Films like *Jaws* (naturally) and even *Piranha* were more successful; this one doesn’t offer anything new to the genre of movies featuring fish that eat people. It initially tries a different approach, but by the time the credits roll, it could easily be mistaken for an installment in either of those other series. As I mentioned, I did enjoy seeing the cast on screen. Jason Statham isn't performing at his peak, but he’s still easy to watch. He, Li Bingbing and Sophia Cai make a likable group. Cliff Curtis is also quite good. Page Kennedy is alright; I recall him from the TV show *Rush Hour* (I was among those who actually watched and liked that program). I can't picture the next one being an improvement. I’ll be checking it out soon, and I hope it is.
