This is another entry into that genre, originating from Britain. What I consistently find perplexing across these films is their reliance on predictable narrative pitfalls – specifically, characters prematurely accepting AI as relatable, which invariably triggers catastrophic consequences. The story unfolds in a future setting where escalating tensions between China and Taiwan prompt Western nations, particularly Britain, to develop an exceptionally sophisticated artificial intelligence system. However, when the scientist’s creation exceeds military requirements, conflicting agendas emerge among those involved. The subsequent power struggles and resolution of the plot occupy the remainder of the film. My initial impression was positive, but I grew dissatisfied with how things progressed; it felt directionless, ultimately devolving into a familiar conflict between humans and machines. While I wouldn't characterize the movie as terrible, I attribute its shortcomings to the sheer volume of films exploring this subject matter. Filmmakers need to explore fresh narrative avenues, focusing on the potential advancements of AI rather than rehashing tired concepts like training programs that feel outdated.
