I felt the early scenes, depicting their childhoods and first encounters with life’s challenges—like dealing with romantic interests and adolescence—were particularly well done. However, as the characters age, the story seemed to lose momentum; this mirrors the monotonous routine borne by the oldest sister, “Maria” (Eleonora De Luca), who assumes significant responsibility at a young age and struggles to relinquish it, though her development isn't always captivating. This sense of hopelessness, whether profound or subtle, combined with the family home itself, creates a bleak atmosphere that drains the joy and optimism from the characters, leaving them as faded versions of their former selves—people I had trouble connecting with or feeling sorry for. One aspect I appreciated was the limited amount of dialogue as the film progressed. The visuals, sometimes repetitive but often moving, encourage viewers to use their own imaginations to understand many of the unspoken aspects and details not explicitly presented in the script.
