While the movie falters somewhat around its center, I did find 'The Lone Ranger' to be an enjoyable experience overall. The fact that many of the creative minds behind 2003’s 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' – a film I consider my favorite – were reunited for this project certainly didn’t hurt my enjoyment. This includes Johnny Depp, Gore Verbinski, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio. So, naturally, I was inclined to like it. Depp is entertaining, which is pretty standard for him. There's a question of whether he truly fits the part, though. He’s mentioned having Native American ancestry, but that brings up complicated issues. Regardless, his performance is fun to watch. Armie Hammer exceeded my expectations, and William Fichtner makes a solid antagonist. It was also nice to see Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter in the cast. I appreciate how the story unfolds, particularly with Depp and Mason Cook’s involvement; it creates an interesting layer of mystery around what's happening. The final scenes are enjoyable, at least from a visual standpoint – I don’t care for the music as much, to be honest. As mentioned earlier, though, the middle section isn't as engaging, but the ending does help redeem things. I suppose I've seen better work from this team before. Nevertheless, it remains a very good film in my opinion, even with its flaws.
