This feels like the final installment among the truly enjoyable James Bond movies. It’s definitely the last genuinely entertaining 007 film. The plot involves Bond attempting to prevent the killing of a Russian official who wants to come over to the Western side, but he has a feeling that something isn't right and instead of eliminating the would-be killer—a beautiful female violinist—he disarms her. There’s an oddness surrounding the defector, which is apparent to the audience even if it isn't clear to those involved in the events unfolding. The film offers plenty of stunning locations, exciting sequences, clever dialogue, and some amusing moments, like using a violin case as a sled during an escape from pursuers. It’s possibly the most lighthearted of all the Bond films, which is worth noting. Apparently, after this movie, those in charge seemed to think "fun" was something negative.
