The Last Rodeo feels like a throwback to older sports films. It isn’t flawless, certainly, but it presents a solid narrative with a straightforward concept that was handled effectively. While there are aspects one could critique, the film ultimately surpasses its shortcomings. The low budget occasionally becomes noticeable, though at other points the visuals are quite impressive. Certain moments feel stiff, particularly when the PBR riders appear on screen, but considering the financial constraints, the movie often has the look of a more expensive production. The themes of love, sacrifice, and desperation are portrayed effectively, even if they sometimes fall into familiar territory. I’d give it an 8/10 and would happily watch it again.
