The initial impression is that Leterrier has created a film reminiscent of pandemic thrillers, depicting the home as confinement and solitude as more frightening than any external threat. However, further examination uncovers a narrative centered on an internal emptiness that takes shape within the relentless stream of information. Headlines shift quickly, replaced by new developments before evening arrives, and we scarcely register as events unfold around us. What starts as a mandated break from technology unexpectedly evolves into an opportunity to reconnect with basic joys: engaging in a board game, sharing a movie night with loved ones (though the options are somewhat restricted—just two films are available), or concluding the day with a playful pillow fight.
