I’ve watched some films with Anne Kendrick lately, and they haven’t really done anything for me; this one didn't either. I typically don’t care for musicals, particularly those made recently, though there are exceptions. This feels like a brief narrative stretched to roughly 30 minutes, but the inclusion of pointless songs inflated it into a full-length movie. Apparently some viewers appreciated it, and perhaps they had good reason, however, I found it quite dull. The acting wasn't memorable; all I noticed was that the performers seemed to be singing toward a single point. It’s possible they were reading from cue cards. If you’re looking for a standard romantic comedy, this isn’t it. Those who enjoy musicals may find something to like here, but otherwise, I don't believe it will appeal to most people. No harm intended to those who liked it, but this is one film that could easily be skipped this year. 3/10
