What an enjoyable adventure story! Margaret Lockwood forms a connection with a delightful elderly woman, portrayed by Dame May Whitty, while staying in a hotel. The older woman then vanishes during their train journey back to England. Lockwood joins forces with the attractive but frustrating Michael Redgrave, and they embark on a quest to locate her. Paul Lukas delivers a quietly effective performance as a doctor, and Catherine Lacey seems to relish playing the part of a nun. Several smaller narratives unfold alongside the central search, providing some amusing moments and a slight change of pace while revealing that shadowy elements are involved. It's an uncomplicated yet absorbing script by Sidney Gilliat, showcasing Hitchcock’s talent for creating suspense.
