It was encouraging to finally have a chance to witness Timothée Chalamet in a more intense role. However, the experience wasn't satisfying. My reaction to his depiction of this significant figure from early 15th Century British history was one of indifference. He seemed as though he needed nourishment, let alone confronting an enemy equipped with weapons and aggression. The accent was acceptable, but he continues to have difficulty escaping that charming, innocent persona, and since he essentially has to support the entire movie on his own, it simply doesn't quite succeed. Robert Pattinson’s infrequent appearances occasionally veer into melodrama; his last scene in particular evoked images of “Bambi’s” initial movements from 1942. It is commendable that Netflix is willing to finance endeavors such as this, but the reality remains that substantial funding cannot make up for a weak script—imagine Shakespeare simplified—along with some well-known guest appearances and, it must be acknowledged, truly impressive battle sequences.
