This movie is shockingly bad. It’s good to see Nathalie Emmanuel in something other than the Fast & Furious films, and it's also pleasant seeing Omar Sy and Sam Worthington again, but the film just keeps becoming sillier, more awkward, and less intelligent as it goes along. The club scene at the beginning might be the highlight, creating a misleading impression that the movie will be better than its promotional materials suggest – which it isn’t. In that way, this film brought to mind *The Killer* (2024) and also *Smile* (2022). People really loved *Smile*, but it never recovered after its initial scene. I recently watched *Silent Night* (2023), which wasn't terrible, though perhaps John Woo should have left well enough alone at that point. The lack of originality in the plot doesn’t bother me; what I object to is the poorly written script and uninspired direction. Zee’s writing is bad, Sey’s writing is bad, Jenn’s writing is bad, and Finn repeats "Kushala Daora" far too often. Jax seems to be the best-written character, and he's only on screen for a few minutes total. I initially thought they were aiming for something like *Killing Eve* (2018-2022), but that wasn’t the case at all; it’s just disappointing. Is there someone who knows what they're doing who could take this cast, this premise – this “Queen of the Dead” concept – and execute it well? If you want to watch female-led assassin action movies, *The Protégé* (2021) is worth a look; it wasn’t great, but it was more enjoyable than this one, as were *Anna* (2019), *Salt* (2010), *Red Sparrow* (2018), or *Atomic Blonde* (2017).
