Hollywood has tackled this narrative in countless ways throughout its history—Pat as the hero, Pat as Billy’s confidant, Billy portrayed as virtuous, emphasizing that he was a real person. Typically, regardless of the approach taken, there's usually some enjoyment to be had and an engaging story at its center. This version features a strong ensemble cast, but it takes a promising narrative and seems to drain away any sense of excitement. The result is rather lifeless, and frankly, it ought to be captivating. I’m uncertain what misstep occurred during production. It's acceptable enough to pass the time...but it isn’t well-made. It presents a dull and uninspired account of Billy the Kid’s life, executed with about as much imagination as a coloring book.
