This western proved to be a reasonably enjoyable experience. It’s not exactly a landmark film, though it surpasses many others in the genre. From what I’ve gathered through reading about it, the depiction of interactions between Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett appears to be fairly faithful. Of course, this is a fictional movie, not an attempt at historical record. I do feel that the filmmakers attempted to overly integrate the younger character into William Bonney's storyline. Some of his behaviors seemed inappropriate for someone portrayed as being so young. Perhaps it would have been better if he’d been depicted as a teenager instead. There were also instances where other characters called the young actor "the Kid," which created confusion with the already established title. And I believe those two voiceovers he delivered just served as unwelcome interruptions. I don't anticipate wanting to rewatch it quickly, but there was enough substance present that I don’t feel like my time was wasted.
