I really didn’t anticipate liking 'The Kid' quite so much. It was a delightful find. Bruce Willis and Spencer Breslin work well together in a movie that manages to be both funny and heartwarming. The basic idea behind the story is fascinating; it’s a neat concept. While not everything about it is flawless, watching things play out proves enjoyable. There are some genuinely touching moments as well. Willis, naturally, stands out, but I believe Breslin does an admirable job too. He often took on roles like this one, and there's probably a good reason for that—he’s believable in them. Emily Mortimer (as Amy) is perfectly adequate, and Melissa McCarthy has a small part as a younger version of herself. It’s very good, and surprisingly so.
