The initial image is unsettling, but the film turns out to be just another horror offering that has been watered down to appeal to a younger audience. It’s baffling. There are already numerous animated programs aimed at children that contain inappropriate sexual content—cartoons so explicit they introduced me to concepts I was previously unaware of. And then there's something like this, a horror film so mild it lacks any real impact. It’s gentle enough to lull kids to sleep. This seems to be the trend with modern horror; these films don’t inspire dread—and that’s what horror movies are supposed to do. They should leave you uneasy, reluctant to go to bed afterward, but now they're so bland you might even drift off during them. Don't bother with it. It isn't frightening at all; the filmmakers softened it too much to elicit even a simple startle.
