I practically salivated when I first saw the trailer. The people who made this…wow. You just get a feeling it’s going to be something special. And Crowe, who seems to believe he's the greatest actor of all time, is actually performing well in this film. It’s rewarding to witness him act; some had assumed it was only a myth, but here’s evidence that he possesses talent somewhere under his confidence. Pacino, Mann, Plummer, Gabon—and then you look and Gershon is doing a solid job as well. It feels like an ideal cast assembled with a second-tier group of performers who step up to the occasion. I would award it a perfect score if…but I can give it a 10 out of 10 simply because it’s a pleasure to watch everyone involved...who even cares about the story? It could have been terribly written, and the cast and director still would have rescued it. The whole thing had the feel of Richard III—that level of excellence.
