This film is essentially a re-creation of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but unlike that earlier movie—which I don’t consider to be particularly strong—this one fails to bring anything fresh to the table. The jokes simply didn't land, and to make matters worse, Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson lacked any spark together where Michael Caine and Steve Martin had a wonderful rapport. Because it stuck so closely to the original plot, I mostly felt bored throughout the experience, just hoping for it to be over. It wasn’t terrible—I've certainly seen films that were less enjoyable—but I couldn't help but wonder what purpose it served.
