It’s bitterly amusing that the film was withdrawn from release because of controversy stirred up by Trump—a situation occurring even though he hadn't watched it—considering _The Hunt_ itself examines how easily people on the left can create uproar without understanding all the facts. Ultimately, there isn’t anything in _The Hunt_ deserving of such a reaction. Betty Gilpin delivers a strong performance, as expected, and occasionally the action sequences are entertaining, but nearly all of the dialogue feels stilted. If you're looking for any kind of meaningful message or clever conversation, don’t believe claims from anyone on either side suggesting this film provides it. _Final rating:★★½ - It had elements I liked, but they didn’t come together successfully._
