**The Housemaid** proves to be an exceptional thriller film. The atmosphere established during the initial portion of the movie is incredibly gripping; it really makes you believe that Naina, the homeowner, is suffering from mental instability and erratic behavior. It’s skillfully crafted so that you aren't expecting what ultimately happens. Although the promotional material might suggest a straightforward narrative centered on a domestic worker entering a household and subsequent disagreements arising, the film delivers a significant surprise. As the story progresses past its midpoint, the enigma is revealed through Naina’s account to her daughter. This allows for an understanding of her vulnerability and how she was taken advantage of. The true antagonist turns out to be her husband, who displays obsessive tendencies and mental instability; he's someone who values his family's antique possessions above human relationships. The actress playing the maid gives a truly remarkable performance; early on, her portrayal has you convinced that Naina is the one losing it. However, the origin of all the problems lies with the husband’s mother and the way she brought him up. The final scene, where the maid holds the husband captive and his death occurs alongside assistance from a female police officer, provides a strong resolution.
