The film reimagines the story from a mid-80s movie, giving a significant role to Nash’s girlfriend, Grace, played by Sophia Bush. Sean Bean's portrayal of the antagonist feels more convincing, and the narrative becomes clearer without excessive explanation, culminating in a much better ending. The unnecessary parts have been removed, creating a tighter and more enjoyable viewing experience. The changes are substantial enough that it doesn’t feel like a rehash of what came before. Its running time is 1 hour and 24 minutes, and filming occurred during the summer of 2006 in locations around Sante Fe, New Mexico, as well as Austin, Texas – including the University of Texas campus and studio sets.
