Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, cousins found guilty of attacking, torturing, and killing ten women in Los Angeles between 1977 and 1978, are the subjects of this film, which presents an imagining of their violent period. The movie is not enjoyable. When crafting a serial killer story—particularly one rooted in actual events—it seems essential to find some element of interest beyond the sheer horror of what happened. Director Chuck Parello and co-writer Stephen Johnston don’t manage this, resulting in a lack of meaningful human connection within the narrative. The casting doesn't help either; Nicholas Torturro as Buono feels entirely wrong for the part, making it difficult to engage with the character or take him seriously when the role demands it. However, C. Thomas Howell’s portrayal of Bianchi is effective. Howell often goes unappreciated in darker roles—going back to his performance in *Kid* from 1990, where he played a vengeful killer—he's consistently delivered solid, atmospheric performances in thrillers. The cinematography by John Pirozzi also works well, maintaining the film’s dark and gloomy atmosphere, and Gregg Gibbs’ production design accurately captures the details of the late 1970s. It earns a 5/10.
