It was an enjoyable film, though it’s unlikely I’ll revisit it, and I can suggest it to others. You really need to go into this knowing what you're getting: it deals with racial inequality. That means there’s a lot of prejudice and unjust conflict, along with unpleasant portrayals of wealthy people who seem to think they can still own other individuals because they have the power to do so. This is an excellent film, but it presents a difficult and somber narrative, and what little humor exists doesn't really make it much easier to digest. The actors are all very talented and deliver strong performances; the writing is solid, and the production quality is high. It won’t offer any relief from real-world problems, but I don’t have to enjoy a movie in order to acknowledge its merits.
