It’s predictable that the setting is Arkham, and naturally, Tillinghast appears. It turns out Mr. Ward actually *is* Charles Dexter. This isn't really a traditional Lovecraft tale; I would say it resembles "The Thing on the Doorstep" to some degree. Vincent Price gets to be Vincent Price, and the film benefits from giving him ample opportunity to do so. A few of the other performers aren’t quite as strong, but honestly, they all seem pale and unremarkable next to Price when they're in the same scenes with him. Certain parts could have used some refinement, though it remains a very pleasant cinematic experience rooted in Lovecraftian themes.
